Rhode Island has a self government meaning each individual town made its' own decisions. Very early into it's life Rhode Island got a charter that granted anyone who lived there religious freedom so religion was pretty important to them. The origin of the settlers of Rhode Island was Roger Williams was banished from the Massachusetts bay colony so he and a group of exiled Puritans bought land from Native Americans and used it to found Rhode Island as a kind of safe haven. |

Similar to other colonies men would work, women would stay home and children went to school or played marbles.
They lived in homes called stone ender houses. These home were two story but, each floor only had one room. They weren't very common anywhere else in New England and oh oh oh... they had chimneys. As jobs go farming in Rhode Island was normally handled by the women. A lot of men were fisherman, tailors or they worked with lumber in some way like shipbuilding. As for clothing well, men wore shirts and pants, women wore dresses, and kids wore whatever their parents told them to. For entertainment boys would play ball or marbles while girls sewed and played dolls. Adults just worked.
